Experimental typography

EXPERIMENTAL tYPOGRAPHY

The process of design is an essential part of design in order for a designer to grow and adapt. Experimenting with designs is vital to generate ideas and opens up to endless possibilities of design.

Conventionally, you would see typography on flat mediums such as paper, walls, signage etc. Here the human body was used as the canvas to display typography and see what typography looks like on a three dimensional surface.

Concept: The River in Singapore does not just flow. There are a lot of activities around it. The Singaporean population can do several activities such as running, dining, drinking, clubbing, do walking etc. by the river. This is a place where everyone is united. The aim is to raise awareness for the youth to understand that everyone has a place/ position in society. This is done in order to make them feel they are not obliged to conform to the stereotypes/ assumptions that society places them in.

This project was handcrafted to make it more personal and digital manipulated for colour and type placement towards the end. The streets that surround the singapore river have been drawn around the hair that metaphorically acts as the river.  all over the body, different activities/ actions that take place by the river are written in different colours to represent the diversity by the river. THus, showing how the river unites people from all walks of life.
